organic products

A recent research by the Bio Bank confirms that CIR food is the Italian leader in the school food services market and it is second company in Italy with the highest percentage of use of organic products over total purchases.

For some time, CIR food mission has been to promote health, respect for the environment, solidarity. and mutual aid with attention to people wellbeing, taste and the pleasures of the table. It is widely accepted that nutrition is based on cultural events and as such it reflects the history, traditions and identity of people and also their relationship with nature.

For years CIR food has offered food services to schools, preparing thousands of meals for young consumers (about 200,000 per day) in Italian and international schools. It is exactly to satisfy the needs and demands of their youngest customers that in the last few years it has developed and expanded the use of organic products. Cir food started in 1992 to introduce the use of organic products as base ingredients for their meals.

Catering to schools can offer the opportunity to educate children about food and good nutritional habits. With this in mind and by introducing a massive amount of organic products in the meals it serves in Italian schools, CIR food, for many years, has promoted initiatives, combined with educational programs in the schools, to spread information and make people aware that good health and nutrition can not be separated from an “healthy environment”, a distinguishing trait of organic farming.

CIR food often promotes activities aimed at expanding the knowledge of organic products’ characteristics. It lends its tangible expertise and technicians to organize hands-on educational activities, workshops that teach how to appreciate tastes, and field trips to organic farms to directly witness the organic production processes. It organizes and participates in meetings and conferences aimed at getting town officials, teachers, parents and children involved.

CIR food Group, advocating healthy and sustainable lifestyle behaviors, doesn’t limit the use of organic products to its schools meals but it extends it to its other catering services.
