On April 26, 2011 CIR food obtained the certification for its Traceability in Feed and Food Chain System.
The UNI EN ISO 22005:2008 norm is a valuable tool for food manufacturers since it documents the history of the finished product, identifies and pinpoints the provenance of a product or its components, and increases consumer confidence in the food chain.
It is also an important tool in tracing the cause of problems related to food safety.
CIR food’s Traceability in Feed and Food Chain system is applied at the "Lioness" Meal Preparation Centre in Botticino Sera (BS), which caters to schools and welfare/healthcare facilities.
Specifically, the following requirements are met: traceability of every phase of the meal preparation, starting from the delivery of raw and packaging materials to the delivery/distribution of the meals (raw and prepared) to the cafeterias or other facilities.
The context in which the catering service is carried out considers the supply chain, which involves the food suppliers, the main food-packaging suppliers, the production centre, the carriers who deliver the meals and the operators that distribute them.
