occupational health and safety management systems standard

On June 15, 2010 the Occupational Health and Safety Management System of CIR food obtained certification according to the BS OHSAS 18001:2007 international standard.

Certifying entity: CISQCERT a partner of the IQNet association (International Certification Network)

The BS OHSAS 18001:2007 standard (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) is recognized internationally and is part of the British Standards Institution. It was created to certify organizations that are looking to create an occupational health and safety management system for their employees.

The BS OHSAS 18001:2007 certification, in addition to compliance with all mandatory safety regulations, requires companies to develop and maintain a management system that continually improves and ensures the best possible conditions for workers, and decreases the risk of accidents, occupational hazards, and diseases.

The 18001, though not adopted by ISO (International Organization for Standardization), is designed to be compatible with other management systems’ standards already adopted by the Company, such as ISO 9001 (Quality System) and ISO 14001 (Environmental System), in order to facilitate the integration of all these systems in a synergetic and efficient way.

The Occupational Health and Safety Management System of CIR food covers all of its business activities without exception. In fact it is extended to all the business segments in which the company operates, as well as all the production units, kitchens, food services, and restaurants the company manages on the national territory, including the Meal Vouchers services. Therefore, the certification will also be extended to all the new contracts CIR food will acquire.

Compliance with BS OHSAS 18001:2007 is valid for the following types of products, processes, and services:

  • Catering and food services for corporations, commercial business centers, schools, hospitals, and other communities
  • Management of self-service restaurants with various forms of service
  • Production and distribution of pizza, as well as other similar baked goods
  • Management of industrial kitchens producing, packaging, transporting, and distributing meals
  • Food and technical consultancies
  • Designing, drafting, and implementing self-regulating systems concerning food safety and based on HACCP analysis.
  • Issuing, managing, and selling meal vouchers
