In an effort to develop its involvement in the foodservice industry in the United States, CIR food in 2008 has acquired 30% of the well-established American foodservice company La Prima Food Group Inc. The agreement allows for a possible CIR food acquisition of 100% of the company within the next five years.
La Prima Food Group has operated for over 25 years in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia in the Corporate Catering sector, efficiently delivering meals to employees and executives directly at their workplace. Among its most important clients: the Pentagon, Boeing, IBM, Microsoft and the White House.
The 20 th January 2009 the Company prepared the lunch to 20.000 volunteers that made Barack Obama’s procession to the White House.
Thanks to the experience of CIR food as a leading provider of food services to schools in Italy, La Prima Food Group has started an important project called School Nutrition Program for a Healthier Generation® to provide food services to schools in America. This project has been implemented in some schools in Washington DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia where they are serving dishes inspired by the Mediterranean diet to American children. The service not only offers an alternative to incorrect nutrition, but it is foremost a way to supply guidelines, models, and suggestions for a good nutritional education.
