Internet in the kitchen. How does cooking change with a computer as an assistant chef ?
On the first anniversary of the CIR-operated site, www.ilgiornaledelcibo.it , Patrizio Roversi and Martino Ragusa introduced and moderated the inputs and comments of several users of the site: Leonessa, Aurora, Debora, Mareblucobalto, Mariotto, Robipac, Irene and Gianluigi favorably impressed the moderators with their enthusiasm and skills. It was discussed how the web is not just a cold and sterile medium anymore, but how it also promotes new and potentially unlimited ways to discover and socialize: “My kitchen no longer has walls, its walls are now those of the kitchens of all my friends and acquaintances beyond the screen” – says Mareblucobalto effectively.
We discussed the value added by sites like “Giornale del Cibo”, which not only give encyclopedic information, but use interaction and confrontation as resources that contribute to a continuous enrichment. We considered how precious the opportunity is to get in contact with diverse culinary traditions, to compare habits, to open oneself to new ideas, and to overcome any distance. We also discussed how it is imperative to combine all of the above with the necessity of divulging only accurate information, in regards to nutritional education, as well as science and health.
