Among the most interesting nutrition education initiatives that Cir food has developed there are:

  • publication of books having as their subject past and present children schools’ recipes, the importance and use of organic products in children’s dietary habits, and rules for a correct healthy diet.
  • An organic menu for schools... for a tasty and healthy lunch”, a manual on nutrition education written in collaboration with Città Slow, which emphasizes the value of organic foods and how they contribute to preservation of the territory and of the water supply while bringing us back to traditional flavors that were part of our most ancient history;
  • The spice caravan , an education program designed for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students;
  • “Food for thought” a workshop for the senses, which is based on a series of activities designed to discover, know and use one’s own senses as instruments to become aware of the world and of oneself through smell, taste, sight and the development of a sensory memory;
  • Cooking Contest, “Parent chefs for a day”, for parents of primary school students. The goal of this contest is to involve families in developing good healthy eating habits for their children.
  • The distribution of educational toys with the cute Cirghiotto bear, CIR food mascot, as their main character;

  • the organization of cooking workshops for children, parents, grandparents, and teachers and of special days, in the school cafeteria, to teach to the children how to appreciate traditional and local quality products, regional Italian gastronomic specialties and ethnic foods.
  • Contest, to take place in schools, aiming at creating artifacts, posters, signs, drawings, nursery rhymes, stories, and poems inherent to the theme of a balanced nutrition and adequate physical activity.
